58 Hey, folks. I wanted to let people know about a program that I've been
\r
59 working on that may be of interest to people on this list. It's also
\r
60 very heavily inspired by notmuch.
\r
62 It's a personal paper management/indexing system called Xapers, geared
\r
63 somewhat specifically towards academic journal articles. For those
\r
64 familiar with Papers [0], it's like that but for the command line set.
\r
66 Give it a pdf and a source identifier (like doi url), and it downloads
\r
67 bibtex from the online library, stores the pdf and bibtex in a local
\r
68 document store, and indexes them both into a Xapian database. Documents
\r
69 can be arbitrarily tagged. Documents and bibtex can be exported from
\r
70 arbitrary searches. It's a python library underneath, but there a cli
\r
71 and a simple curses ui that can display search results, tag documents,
\r
74 README and a screenshot of the curses ui here:
\r
76 http://finestructure.net/xapers/README
\r
77 http://finestructure.net/xapers/screenshot.png
\r
79 It's certainly not perfect, but it's been working fairly well for me for
\r
80 a while. Feedback/bugs/etc (off list) are very much appreciated.
