It took some time for me to figure this out, but yay!
Fix preserve-libs immediately unmerging a just preserved (copied over)
lib, because it is no longer needed (!needed).
The problem was/is that the Darwin library naming is
lib<name>.<ver>.dylib instead of lib<name>.so.<ver>. This results in
doing a simple sort() over the list a wrong order of the files, such
that the actual file (libneon.27.1.11.dylib) is seen before it's "soname"
symlink, which is recorded in the reverse NEEDED map. Result, the code
thinks libneon.27.1.11.dylib is no longer needed, and unmerges it.
I now implemented a naive comparator which puts symlinks on top, as this
was implied order for the loop, which by coincidence works for .so
objects with sort().
I think this commit (or an improved version of it) is eligable for
merging in the trunk, as it is a safer (and more explicit) way of
ensuring that symlinks are seen before the actual files.

This commit should probably be merged into the trunk.
Fix a bug in preserve libs backtracing.
Issue: copy2 raised an error because the destination path didn't exist
Cause: os.path.join was used with absolute paths on the 2nd arguments,
which results in not a join, but the 2nd argument only.
Result: the os.path.exists/makedirs was only called based on the
existing installation (x), causing no directory ever to be made in the
image dir. Because x is absolute the join always returned x, hence when
preserve libs was run for a lib in a dir not yet existing in the image
it bailed out.
I caught this issue on FreeBSD when upgrading binutils from
18.whatever.2 to 18.whatever.3, when preserve libs tried to preserve
libopcodes.18.whatever.2.so which is in a directory 18.whatever.2,
whereas only 18.whatever.3 existed.

Zac's USERLAND guessing yields in big problems for Prefix. Prefix users
/always/ have a GNU userland. I could reliably make this the case in
portage/data.py. In isolated-functions.sh I couldn't. It looks strange
to me it's being set there as well.
I personally hope that USERLAND can go away some day. Prefix could
cater for this in the current FreeBSD case, by simply having an
alternative EPREFIX for a number of packages that Portage needs (bash,
coreutils, findutils, sed, gawk ...).

Portage module path logic (Prefix way)
In principle we don't want to be dependant on the environment
(PYTHONPATH) and/or python hardcoded default search path. (PYTHONPATH).
Since Gentoo patches Python to include Portage's python modules in the
default search path, any Gentoo python interpreter is an enemy for
Portage once it is not installed in the path hardcoded during Python
compilation. This is the case when bootstrapping Prefix Portage on a
Gentoo Linux system, or when bootstrapping Prefix Portage using another
Prefix instance on the same system. For this reason we ignore the
entire search path, and allow a backdoor for developers via the
PORTAGE_PYTHONPATH variable.

I probably got somehow annoyed by the ${D} in the output in the past
here. However, since zmedico solved it using a sed, remove my bash
version of it to be more in sync with the trunk.
