+I've been away from any active involvement in the notmuch community for\r

+it's possible to slip into bad habits that allow one to get behind with\r
+email. So I got behind.\r

+I also had some difficulty in accepting the fact that I wasn't able to\r
+be as directly involved with notmuch as I was in the beginning. Early on\r
+I would read every message sent to the list and try to ensure that every\r
+question received at least some answer, (whether from me or for someone\r
+else). But of course, I never succeeded at actually keeping up with\r
+that, so my queues kept getting bigger and more intimidating, etc.\r

+Anyway, it's been about 18 months since I've done anything real with\r
+notmuch. I'm so delighted to see that the community that built up around\r
+notmuch has been so independent, doing great things in my absence. I'm\r
+excited to start looking close at the new features that I've not played\r
+with (nmbug, date parsing, etc.), and maybe start implementing some of\r
+those ancient features that I never got around to implementing in the\r
+first place, (indexing of List-Id headers?).\r

+So a huge thank you to all of you!\r

+When I got over the psychological hurdles and decided to just archive\r
+away the old, neglected mail queues, notmuch at least did make that\r
+really easy. And I've now got an email workflow going really well for\r
+me, that I think will be really useful. Notmuch allows the workflow\r
+quite well, but doesn't guide me through it as smoothly as I would\r
+like. More on that in a later message.\r
+\r
+But for now, I should be reading the list much more regularly going\r
+forward, and I'll be happy to have people CC me directly when they want\r
+my particular attention for some specific reason.\r

+And of course, all of the 12,000+ [*] messages I missed in the last\r
+18 months[*] are still present in my archives. So new replies to old\r
+messages might bring things to my attention. People can use that\r
+intentionally if it will be useful.\r

+I don't know how much code I'll be committing on a regular basis. But I\r
+will definitely be "around" now much more.\r
