+I think the following pieces are needed:\r

+1) Enable synonyms when opening the database\r
+\r
+2) enable synonyms in the query parser\r
+\r
+These first two should be covered in the xapian docs\r
+\r
+3) load the synonyms from a file.\r
+ - this needs some infrastructure, and some decisions about how to\r
+ handle such configuration info.\r
