+May anyone explain what's the intended use of --cgi option ?

+I undertand you may run the cgi wrapper from command line using --cgi, but what is this option useful for ?. Perhaps for use with SSI pages ?. Any example ?
Ikiwiki is a compiler for VCS-based (Git, Subversion, ...) wikis.
